Kathmandu / May 12: The government is presently working on a plan to establish 365 integrated schools across the country for children with physical disabilities. The plan is aimed at ensuring inclusive education to them.

At a press meet organised by the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal here Thursday, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Education Mukundamani Khanal said the integrated school establishment project aimed at ensuring equal access of children with physical disabilities to education is being implemented under the School Sector Development Plan (SSDP).

Besides, under the Plan, primary school children from grade 1 to 3 of the five districts in the Karnali region and food crisis-hit 24 districts will be provided free meals. This is expected to help reduce school dropout rate in primary level and protect them from malnutrition.

Likewise, the government has a plan of establishing 34 special schools and eight boarding schools for hearing-impaired children.

On the occasion, Federation Chair Sudarshan Subedi appreciated the government’s plan to be unveiled in a week. RSS
