PM releases five-year reconstruction plan; assures safe shelters to quake survivors before monsoon
Kathmandu / May 12: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reiterated that government would ensure safe shelters to the earthquake survivors before monsoon by raising integrated settlement.
Releasing the five-year reconstruction work plan prepared by the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) on Thursday, PM Oli said all personal houses would be rebuilt within two years.
According to him, the reconstruction drive would prioritize the disabled, women, children, elderly and sick ones.
At the programme organized in the presence of the representatives of the international donors, Chief Executive Officer at NRA, Sushil Gyawali, made the work plan elaborate.
The work plan was prepared based on the post disaster need assessment. According to CEO Gyawali, though the PDNA had estimated a budget of Rs 699 billion for the entire reconstruction activities, the number of damaged houses was increased demanding additional amount.
With the additional budget, Rs 838 billion has been allocated under the five- year work plan for the reconstruction activities.
Of the total allocation, Rs 645 billion will be spent for individual homes, while Rs 106 billion for production, Rs 61 billion for promotional expense and Rs 26 billion for shared activities. RSS
