Khanal’s solo exhibit at Arupan Gallery

Khanal's ArtworkKathmandu / May 12: Artist Ramesh Khanal’s solo exhibition is currently on display at the Arupan Art Gallery, in the Capital. The exhibit was inaugurated by the chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts Ragini Upadhayay, during a ceremony held on Tuesday.

“Khanal’s contribution to Nepali art has been multidimensional,” Upadhayay noted, speaking
during the ceremony; “Nepali arts will forever be indebted to the contributions Khanal has made–through writing, artistry and for spearheading an art gallery.”

Speaking during the event, Keshab Raj Khanal, chairperson of Society of Fine Arts Journalists, Nepal, (SOFAJ), said that artist Khanal’s artworks, however abstract, do match up with the present context of Nepali society. “Khanal has given a
magical touch to his works-and is especially notable for expressing abstract emotions through the abstract artwork,” said Khanal.

Khanal’s work are based on perpetual issues of human discussion such as the complexities of life and the absurdities, one has to face while undertaking the journey of life.

Khanal’s artworks, then, capture, too, the emotions faced during the times of earthquakes and reimagine the context of the time of the fateful event.

“The works on view have been materialised as the fusion of time and emotions,” said artist Khanal. “I have imagined themes such as freedom, personal and societal; these are my attempts to seek a balance between the society and a person and make it speak through colours.” Source: The Kathmandu Post
