I did not violate any norms: Upadhyay

Ambassador-Deep-Kumar-UpadhyayaKathmandu / May 15: Outgoing Ambassador of Nepal to India Dip Kumar Upadhyay has said that since the decision to withdraw him from Delhi was a political one, he had nothing to say about it.

Talking to reporters upon his arrival home at the Tribhuvan International Airport today, Upadhyay said he took the government’s decision (to recall him) with ease. He, however, said that he made every possible effort to ease the obstruction in supplies that was seen in the border with India.

In response to journalists’ query over the reason behind his recall, Upadhyay said the Foreign Ministry has not give any reason for calling him back. “The talks however about the reason behind my recall are just a rumour”.

Upadhyay said he did not violate any norms during his stay in Delhi for 13 months and five days. He said that the cancellation of the President’s visit to India at the last moment was unfortunate. He however said that an incident or two would not have any impact on Nepal-India relations. RSS
