Maoist parties all set to announce unification on May 19

Communist Party FlagKathmandu / May 17: Various splinters of the Maoist party have decided to announce their formal unification on coming Thursday.

Those opting for the unification are UCPN (Maoist), CPN (Revolutionary Maoist), CPN (Maoist), Revolutionary Communist Party and the Maoist party led by Netra Bikram Chand.

To finalize the unification, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara, CPN(R-Maoist)’s Ram Bahadur Thapa, Dev Gurung, Hitman Shakya, and Kul Prasad KC among others are assigned to hold discussion for the organizational issues, while Chairman Dahal is assigned to prepare the political report on unification.

Chairman Dahal has postponed all public programmes and emergency meetings for the preparation of the report. According to UCPN (Maoist) Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma, the preparations for the unification were going on in full swing, and all issues would be settled by late Wednesday.

A 13-point agreement was being prepared as a basis for the unification. The proposal of the unification has stressed that the Maoist parties would take the ownership of the achievements as republic, federalism, secularism, proportional inclusive representation and human rights, and wage struggle against the reactionist parliamentary characteristics, added Spokesperson Sharma.

All Maoist parties are for accomplishing the commitment of hearing people’s agenda from the government, parliament and street. RSS
