BP Foundation commemorates Tagore

BP KoiralaKathmandu / May 19: BP Koirala Nepal-India Foundation has commemorated prominent Indian literary figure Rabindra Nath Tagore.

At a programme organized at Nepal-India Library in the capital on Wednesday, a documentary ‘Rabindra Nath Tagore’ produced by Satya Jeet Roy was screened in commemoration of the noted literary figure.

The documentary has vividly presented splendid experiences Tagore came across in his 80-year life time. His affinity with contemporary towering personalities of his time such as Mahatma Gandhi and Albert Einstein is also showcased in the documentary.

Born in Calcutta of India in 1861 AD, Tagore had authored innumerable literary creations especially in Bengali and English languages among which ‘Geetanjali’, ‘Gora’, ‘Amar Sonar Bangala’ and ‘Rabindra Sangeet’ are most popular.

Tagore had attained the Nobel Award on literature in 1913. He was the first non-European national to become the recipient of such a prestigious award.

On the occasion, critic Prakash Sayami said Tagore was equally genius in music genre alongside literature.

Foundation chairperson Rubi Jaspreet Sharma said the eminence of Tagore is widening across the globe for his special literary writings. The Foundation has been organizing such programme on different topics every month. RSS
