Government urged to be responsible for WJA enforcement

FNJ OfficeDoti / May 24: Minimum Wages Fixation Committee Coordinator Poshan KC has called on the government to be responsible towards the enforcement of Working Journalists’ Act.

Taking part in an interaction programme on ‘the state of enforcement implementation of working journalists’, at Dipayal, the district headquarters of Doti today, he stressed that every media house should pay journalists through banks and a copy of the bank voucher be provided to the Committee.

KC who is also the advisor to the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) there would be no alternative to closing those media houses even not paying minimum wages to journalists.

Speaking at the same programme, Rastriya Samachar Samiti General Manager and Committee member Nirmala Acharaya the RSS is likely to create a good history by enforcing the WJA inside from the organisation from the coming fiscal year.

The majority of journalists taking part in the programme complained that they have not got appointment papers from the media house for which they are working and have been deprived of promised payment. Sometimes, media houses do not pay journalists on time, they complained. RSS
