Australian govt to provide technical assistance for IWRM

Drinking waterKathmandu / May 26: Australian government has agreed to provide technical assistance to scientifically move forward the integrated water resources management in Nepal.

Discussion were held between concerned authorities of Nepal and Australia to this effect during the Australia visit by a high level delegation from the Department of Water Induced Disaster Prevention, the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, the Department of Electricity Development and the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS).

The WECS said the Australian government has expressed its interest on moving ahead the project of Koshi river basin as a model project and studying on other river basins on the same basis.

Joint secretary at the WECS Keshab Dhoj Adhikari said that Australia also was ready to invest in increasing capacity of those including technicians working in the field of water resources in Nepal. RSS
