Governmnet announces honorary titles, decorations and medals on Republic Day
Kathmandu, May 28: On the occasion of Republic Day today, the State has honoured various individuals with honorary titles, decorations and medals.
According to the Home Ministry, popular leader Madan Kumar Bhandari has been honoured posthumously with the ‘Nepal Ratna’ title. Likewise, former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has been awarded posthumously and former Chair of the Constituent Assembly Subas Chandra Nembang with the ‘Rastra Gaurav’ title.
Likewise, those honoured with the ‘Mahaujjawal Kirtimaya Rastradip’ title are Surya Bahadur Thapa, Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, Nirmal Lama and Posta Bahadur Bogati (posthumously) and Ramhari Joshi while the title of ‘Prasiddha Prabal Janasewashree’ has been bestowed upon Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, Barshaman Pun, Janardan Sharma, Baidyanath Upadhyaya and Bhanu Prasad Acharya, it is stated in a statement issued by the Ministry here today.
Likewise, Dr Som Lal Subedi, Rajendra Chettri, Lokdarshan Regmi, Upendra Kant Aryal, Durja Kumar Rai, Dilip Raj Regmi have been honoured with the ‘Sukirtimaya Rastradip’ title.
An announcement was made to decorate 83 individuals with the Suprabal Janasewasri Manapadavi, 135 with the Prabal Janasewasri Manapadavi and 51 with the Janasewasri Manapadavi.
As per Section 5 of Bibhusan Act, 2064, the Natural Disaster Victim Rescue Medal will be conferred on 56,279 individuals for contribution and supporting the commendable work of rescuing and relieving the natural disaster survivors and mitigating the disaster risk.
A total of 25, 122 individuals will be honoured with letters of appreciation for contributing towards successful conclusion of the 18th SAARC Summit. Pilot duo Captain Dinesh Neupane and co-pilot Santosh Rana will be conferred ‘Birata Padak’ posthumously.
The individuals to be honoured with ‘Suprabal Janasewasri’ include Srikanta Poudel, Shanker Thapa, Birendra Babu Shrestha, Prakash Ojha, Ganesh Prasad Adhikari, Bhes Raj Adhikari, Krishna Hari Puskar, Ram Krishna Subedi, Bijaya Narayan Manandhar, Ravi Shah, Achyut Bista, Navaraj Silwal, Sarbendra Khanal and Swami Arun Ananda.
Heart Specialist Dr Arun Sayami, senior Dr Ashok Banskota and Teaching Hospital’s senior Dr Dibya Singh Shah will be honoured with the medal. Social workers Ani Choying Dolma and Bhairav Risal will also be decorated with the medal. Journalist Krishna Sen Ichuk will receive the medal posthumously. Chandra Dev Baldev, Ang Chiring Sherpa, industrialist Pashupati Murarka and Dr Rajesh Kaji Shrestha will also receive the medal.
The ‘Prabal Janasewasri’ medal will be conferred on Federation of Nepali Chambers of Commerce and Industry senior Vice Chairman, Bhawani Rana, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiran Bajracharya and Armed Police Force (APF) Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Ajaya Kumar Chatkuli.
Also receiving the ‘Prabal Janasewasri’ medal are journalists Mahendra Bista, Narayan Sharma and Narendra Jung Peter, while among the artists are Rekha Thapa, Sitaram Kattel, Kunjana Ghimire, Daya Ram Dahal and Wilson Bikram Rai.
Literary figure duo Tirtha Shrestha and Ghanashyam Dhakal (posthumous), social worker Gopal Nath Yogi, social activist Ganesh Man Sainju also received the award.
Other recipients of the medal are Nawayug Shrestha, Neeta Gharty Magar, Meera Rai, Sushmita Maskey, Asha Kumari Singh, Shailee Basnet and Chunu Shrestha.
Similarly, those receiving ‘Janasewashree’ medal are climber Sanjaya Pandit, swimmer Gaurika Singh, journalist Panna lal Gupta, Mohan Manandhar, Deependra Bantawa, Gautam Shrestha and Tikaram Rai.
Senior Police Officer Praveen Pokharel received the ‘Nepal Pratap Bhushan’ medal. Likewise, Laxman Neupane was presented the ‘Birata’ medal posthumously. The foreign nationals who were provided the same medal posthumously are US citizens Chris Norgen, Dustin Lukasiexicz, Ward Johnson, Erik Seaman, Sara Medina, Jacob Hug and Sean Bartons. RSS
