Martyr memorial park to be constructed in Baglung

Baglung District of NepalBaglung / May 29: A martyrs memorial and a peace park is to be constructed at Malma-6 in Baglung district.

The local chiefs of the different political parties jointly laid the foundation stone of the memorial and the park on Saturday, coinciding with the Ninth Republic Day.

The park known as ‘Ghumte Sahid Smarak tatha Shani Batika’ is to be constructed at the Ramtel Chautari of Malma at a cost of 800 thousand rupees. It is being constructed with the financial assistance mobilised at the initiatives of Tulbir Thapa of Malma-8 who is now living in Japan. Thapa had collected the money in Japan for the construction of the memorial and the park.

The park would have a peace memorial, waiting room, garden, fountain and a resting platform. It will be constructed within the coming year, according to Raj Bahadur Thapa, the President of the Park Construction Committee.

He said the park is being constructed to the memory of Dil Bahadur Ramtel, the first martyr of the Maoist movement while the peace memorial is dedicated to all the known and unknown martyrs of the conflict. RSS
