People with cataract increasing in Doti

Eye articleDoti / May 29: Cataract was found in more than 70 percent of the people who came for eye checkup at a health camp held at Latamandau in Doti on Saturday.

As many as 550 people availed of the free eye checkup service at the health camp organised by the Geta Eye Hospital, Kailali with support from the District Public Health Office, Doti. Ninety-three patients with complex cataract condition were also provided surgical services for correction of cataract, said ophthalmologist Dr Arjun Shrestha.

Similarly, out of the 400 patients who had their eyes checked at a separate eye camp at Durgamandau VDC, 69 underwent surgery for removal of cataract while 47 out of 388 people undergoing free checkup were provided surgical service for removing the cataract at the health camp held at local Chawara Chautara, according to Camp In-charge Meghraj Bhatta.

Meanwhile, 492 people had their eyes checked at a free eye camp held at the District Hospital, Doti. As many as 160 people with complex cataract condition underwent eye operation for removal of the cataract at this camp that started on Friday. RSS
