Embodied Enlightenment discussed
Kathmandu / June 12: Siddhartha Arts Foundation’s Education Initiative (SAFEI) organised a talk programme that saw curator Dr Dina Bangdel and architect Pawan Shrestha discuss the motifs of artist Samundra Man Singh Shrestha’s solo exhibition, Embodied Enlightenment, amid a programme held at the Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal, on Thursday.
The event kicked off with a presentation by Dr Dina Bangdel. Bangdel, a curator herself, who has curated major international exhibitions—including Circle of Bliss: Buddhist Meditational Art, Prakriti Speaks: Contemporary Nepali Arts—gave a presentation that focused on curating content and didactic exhibitions. The presentation was followed by a question-and-answer round between Bangdel and the audience.
The event then shifted focus on the exhibit that featured pauva paintings by artist Samundra Man Singh Shrestha; whereas, architect Pawan Shrestha led the audience to a tour of the show and put forth his critique of the show—he focused on the design of the exhibition. The event concluded with a discussion—that involved Bangdel, Shrestha and the audience. The event also marked the end of the exhibition. Source: The Kathmandu Post
