NAC earns Rs 100 million profit this fiscal
Kathmandu / July 1: The national flag carrier- Nepal Airlines Corporation- is gradually becoming financially strong. The NAC which was long criticised for poor performance marked by irregular flights and weak financial condition is regaining its dignity and winning people’s heart.
The state-run airlines company made 75 per cent more international flights in the current fiscal year compared to the last fiscal. It made Rs 100 million profit in the same period.
Amidst these improvements, the Corporation celebrated its 58th anniversary Friday.
On the occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ananda Prasad Pokhrel, spoke the need of promoting reliability of NAC services and ensuring safe transport of costumers’ belongings. Recalling the incident in which he lost his suitcase while returning home from foreign visit, the Minister said such irregularities must not be repeated.
He pledged to ensure purchasing of three narrow-bodied and two wide-bodies aircrafts for the NAC. Ministry Secretary Prem Kumar Rai urged the NAC to operate aircrafts it has at present to full capacity.
NAC General Manager Sugat Ratna Kansakar said the company is in profit at present. NAC trade union leaders Rajan Upreti, Thaneshwor Sharma and Manoj Saha called for the initiation of the process of purchasing new aircrafts for the NAC.
On the occasion, NAC employees completing 20 years in service were feted. RSS
