MoIC directs to deploy concerned officials in flood-hit areas for data collection

Nepal TelecomeKathmandu / July 28: The Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) has issued a directive to all its subordinate bodies to deploy their concerned officials in the flood-hit areas to collect information about the loss of lives and damages of properties.

The meeting held in the chairmanship of MoIC Secretary Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya on Wednesday directed the State-run media and communication bodies to disseminate authentic and truthful news of the flood and landslides.

The media have been instructed to prioritize the dissemination of the news dealing with the effects of the flood and include in the news the concerned authorities’ views (or quote) whether any physical infrastructures could be built in those flood-hit areas.

Furthermore, the SMS updates on the disaster and its repercussions initiated by Nepal Telecom be made further effective and the government bodies in the flood-hit districts have been urged to cooperate with media persons working from flood-hit areas in information sharing and other support.

Similarly, the meeting has urged the media to acquire factual and truthful news in coordination with the District Disaster Management Committee, Regional Administration Office, local administration and security bodies in the flood affected districts.

Moreover, the meeting has requested Nepal Telecom to pay attention for the continuation of the communication system in the local level during the time of disaster. RSS
