NA choppers called into service to supply relief

Nepalese ArmyBaglung / July 31: The relief supplies were dispatched to the flood-stricken in the western part of the district on Nepal Army helicopters after rescue teams using land routes came across obstructions.

The NA choppers were called into service to transport supplies to Adhikarichaur and Bongadovan VDCs in two phases on Saturday. Rescue teams heading to the site with supplies had come across a road obstruction prompting the authorities to summon the helicopters.

The Integrated Service Centre, Burtiwang is overseeing the distribution of the relief supplies, said Superintendent of Police (SP), Chakra Bahadur Singh, of District Police Office, Baglung.

Singh added that 30 sacks of rice grains, 80 kilos of beaten rice, 100 kilos of pulses, 50 kilos of salt, 50 packets of edible oil, 50 sets of tarps, cooking utensils and clothes were distributed at Adhikarichaur. The Bungkhani area of Bongadovan received 30 sacks of rice grains, 80 kilos of beaten rice, hundred kilos of pulses, 50 kilos of salt, 50 packets of edible oil, 30 sets of tarps, 50 sets of blankets, clothes and cooking utensils.

The rescue teams from Nepal Army and Armed Police Force transporting relief supplies stopped at the Bhimghite area on Friday after coming across a road obstruction.

The villagers struck with flooding and landslides are in dire straits as the government is finding it difficult to send rescue teams and supplies. RSS
