NRA to provide first installment through special drive

Nepal Reconstruction AuthorityKathmandu / Aug 15: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), the government body formed to carry out post-earthquake rebuilding works, is to provide first installment of the house rebuilding grants to the quake survivors under a month-long special campaign.

At a press meet here Monday, NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali said the NRA had the target of depositing the first installment of the grants in the bank accounts of eligible individuals during the campaign that came into effect from Monday itself.

Completion of the grant agreement and responding to registered complaints are parts of the campaign, he said.

The NRA decided to launch a special drive for the distribution of grants, following the government announcement to provide the survivors with the first installment of grants within one and half months.

The NRA employees will work in odd hours and even during public holidays to make the campaign successful.

As per the data made available by the NRA, it has so far signed house rebuilding grant agreements with 339,462 house owners who lost shelter in the disaster while 49,749 have already received the first installment (Rs 50,000) of the promised grant of Rs 200,000. RSS
