Nepal to acquire information about Nepal-bound passengers

nepal-airportKathmandu / Aug 25: The Department of Immigration is preparing to install the Advanced Passenger Information System at the Tribhuvan International Airport to track information about Nepal-bound passengers.

The digital system will help find information about people travelling to Nepal and track and arrest them in case they are involved in crimes, said the Department’s Director General Kedar Neupane.

This idea comes amid reports that some foreigners have been found to be hiding in Nepal after committing crimes in their respective countries. However, Nepali security personnel fail to arrest them for want of their detailed identification and background.

With this system in place, these problems would be resolved, Neupane said. RSS
