Nepal committed to UN Charter: PM Dahal

PrachandaKathmandu / Aug 29: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said Nepal was fully committed to the UN Charter.

During a meeting with UN Under-Secretary General for Field Support, Atul Khare, at his residence on Monday, PM Dahal expressed gratitude to the UN for its assistance during the peace process.

Nepal was planning to increase the number of Nepal Army persons in the UN peace keeping mission in recognition to Nepal Army’s contribution to the peace keeping mission, the PM shared.

On the occasion, Under Secretary General Khare praised the role of Nepalis, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the civil servants in international peace keeping, said PM’s aide Manohari Timilsina.

He expressed gratitude to Nepal over its interest to increase the number of militaries in the peace keeping mission. He also said the UN was ready to assist Nepal in completing the remaining tasks of the peace process.

Meanwhile, UN Resident Coordinator in Nepal, Valerie Julliand paid a courtesy call on PM Dahal on Monday. She wished PM Dahal a success and enquired about the current politics and government’s plan.

On the occasion, PM Dahal shared that the government would be committed to the implementation of the constitution, completion of the peace process, reconstruction of the structures damaged by the quake, launching of mega projects, and good governance and prosperity.

Also on Monday, the UN Under Secretary General Khare met with Defense Minister Bal Krishna Khand at the latter’s office, Singha Durbar.

Defense Minister Khand shared that Nepal government was planning to double Nepal’s contribution to the UN peace keeping mission. RSS
