Supplementary budget likely: Finance Minister Mahara

Kathmandu / Sept 4: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara has said the government was likely to bring a supplementary budget in order to make the current year’s budget more practical and implementable.

Finance Minister Mahara made such disclosure at a press conference organized at the Finance Ministry on Sunday. Discussion was underway in the Ministry on bringing the supplementary budget. Similarly, the government was making preparation to pass the budget-related bills- the Bill to Raise Domestic Debt and the Loan and Guarantee Bill early.

The Finance Minister also informed that Legislature-Parliament has already passed the Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2058 (2nd Amendment Bill) and the Employees’ Provident Fund-2019 (9th amendment bill) and Auditing Act- 2048 (first amendment bill).

According to him, the government was also planning to amend the procedure on receiving donation for post-quake reconstructions.

Although he said significant agreements would be made with India during upcoming India visit of the Prime Minister, he did not divulge further on it.

Facilitation was on to accomplish the the development projects in time and augment the capital expenditure, he said, adding that the O and M Survey of the Legislature-Parliament was approved. Approval was given in principle for the establishment of Rapti Institute of Health Sciences.

He argued that the revenue collection was in line with the expectation. RSS
