Restoration of old and derelict irrigation project

irrigationMyagdi / Sept 5: A 50 year old irrigation project – which fell into utter neglect and degeneration with intermittent landslides and absence of regular maintenance at Beni Municipality 1 – has been revived.

The Irrigation Development Sub Division Office, Myagdi has invested Rs 8.4 million to restore the project back to its old glory. As part of the restoration campaign, 2,500 metre long concrete canal was constructed from Dodeni river to Ratnechaur area.

A hundred metre long pipe has been set up at the place where the landslide occurred, said Irrigation Development Sub Division Office Chief Engineer, Ramesh Raj Sharma. The restoration of the project along with installation of the canal and other infrastructure will benefit around 250 households in the locality.

Around a thousand ropanis of farmlands will now have a round-the-season irrigation facility with the restoration of the project.

Consumer Committee Chairman, Dal Bahadur Rawal, visibly glad over the ongoing restoration bid, said the farmers are saved from the usual hassle of waiting turns to irrigate their land. RSS
