Foreign experts suggest PM to create environment of trust

PrachandaKathmandu / Sept 7: Foreign Affairs experts have suggested Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to focus his India visit in resolving all misunderstandings surfaced between the two countries and implementing the past agreements.

During a meeting called by Prime Minister Dahal at his office in Singha Durbar to solicit suggestions, the foreign affairs experts suggested the PM to talk openly with the Indian side about the reason behind misunderstanding between the two countries.

Former Foreign Minister Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani said that they suggested ensuring that such misunderstandings are not created between two countries in the future. He said, “A great misunderstanding surfaced for imposing the unannounced border blockade. Reason behind it should be find out. We have asked PM Dahal to talk openly and create environment of trust.”

In response, PM Dahal said that his India visit would be focused on creating environment of trust rather than signing new deal, said Lohani quoting the PM.

Another, former Foreign Minister Rameshnath Pandey said, “A great mishap took place in Nepal-India relation. I have suggested finding out the main reasons regarding this.”

Most of the participants in the discussion suggested creating environment of trust and implementing the past agreements, said Foreign Affairs Advisor of the PM, Dr Rishiraj Adhikari.

The meeting was attended Foreign Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat and Energy Minister Janardan Sharma. The experts included among others Prof Dr Jayaraj Acharya, Prof Lokraj Baral, Nilamber Acharya, Dinesh Bhattarai, Kedar Bhakta Shrestha. RSS
