Will strive do good in judicial service: CJ Karki

Sushila KarkiKathmandu / Sept 9: Chief Justice Sushila Karki has said that she would strive to do something good in judicial service.

Chief Justice Karki said so while inaugurating the 25th National Conference of Women Lawyers organised by the Nepal Bar Association, Women Committee here today.

She stressed that women lawyers should make themselves capable to be judge by enhancing their capacity. “You should be capable. I am ready to appoint women to the post of judge. The Judicial Council will appoint women to the post”, she said.

Nepal Bar Association Vice-Chairperson and Chairperson of the Women Committee, Uma Malla Pathak, said that the conference is organised every year with an objective of building professional capacity of women lawyers.

The two-day conference began under the theme ‘women’s participation in economic sector: guarantee of constitutional rights’. Discussion on various issues including building professional capacity of women lawyers, encouragement toward the profession and their rights are scheduled to be discussed and debated.

A total of 500 delegates from across the nation are participating in the conference. RSS
