Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Mahat and Indian External Affairs Minister Swaraj meet

prakas srn mahatKathmandu / Sept 12: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat and Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj held a bilateral meeting in India’s capital, New Delhi, on Monday.

The meeting dwelt on the matters as to how Nepal-India relations could be further enhanced and consolidated in a cordial manner.

Minister Dr Mahat briefed that in course of the meeting he had raised Nepal’s interests and concerns and Indian External Affairs Minister Sworaj, in response, took the matter seriously.

Minister Dr Mahat further noted that he had mentioned the issues of high public concerns such as prevention of inundation and flood, import-export, postal highway, irrigation, opening and regulating border points and other mega projects including Pancheswor.

The Minister went on saying that he had shown concern about Nepal-India past agreements and the projects which have not come into smooth implementation.

The two ministers held discussion to avert the challenges surfaced and ensure smooth implementation of some of the current projects and advance Nepal-India bilateral relations to a new height on mutual trust, Dr Mahat said after meeting his Indian counterpart.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Mahat left for New Delhi on Sunday as part of the preparation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s upcoming India visit.

During his stay, Minister Dr Mahat is busy holding crucial political and diplomatic meetings there.

He was scheduled to have meetings with other Indian ministers and leaders this evening. RSS
