Corporation plans to stem skyrocketing goat prices
Kathmandu / Sept 13: The state-owned Nepal Food Corporation will supply around 3,000 goats for this festive season to ease the burden on market demand and stem a possible steep rise in price.
The Corporation has been supplying goats annually during the Bada Dashain festival to provide meat to the consumers in concessional price.
Around 1,500 mountain goats will be brought from the trans-Himalayan district of Mustang and regular goats from various locations in India, Corporation’s General Manager Shiva Hari Shrestha said.
With the increase in the demand of goat meat, the goat prices usually climb during the festive season every year.
The Corporation will be ready for sale of goats from the day of Gathasthapana, which marks the formal beginning of the Bada Dashain festival. RSS
