Jagadambasri and Madan Puruskar announced
Kathmandu / Sept 20: The ‘Jagadambasri Puruskar’ for the year 2072 BS is to be presented to noted literary figure Lil Bahadur Chhetri.
The annual general meeting of the Madan Puruskar Guthi held on Tuesday took the decision to present the award to Chhetri, who has continuously devoted himself to enrich Nepali language and literature for the past 60 years,
Born in Asam, Guwahati (India) on 1932, litterateur Chhetri has a dozen of literary books including popular novel ‘Basain’ in his credit.
Likewise, the meeting today decided to award the year 2072’s Madan Puruskar to ‘Aina (Mirror)’ authored by Ram Lal Joshi.
The Madan Puruskar, instituted by Queen Jagadamba in 2012 BS, was first given away to culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi for his creation ‘Hamro Loksanskriti (Our Folk Culture)’ in 2013 BS. The Jagadambasri Puruskar was later instituted after the passing away of Queen Jagadamba in 2045 BS.
Both the awards carry a purse of Rs 200,000 each. Every year, the awards are presented on the day after Ghatasthapana, the first Day of Dashain. RSS
