EC cancels registration of 11 parties, warns 82

Election CommissionKathmandu / Sept 23: The Election Commission (EC) has scrapped the registrations of 11 political parties as a punishment for their failure to present the annual report and statement of income and expenditure to the Commission.

Their registrations were rescinded as per the Political Parties’ Act-2058 BS. Nawa Nepal Nirman Party, Jana Unity Cooperative Party Nepal, Tarai Madhes Pahad Himal Ekata Party, Hariyali Nepal Party, Om Sena Party, Nawa Janabadi Party, CPN (Marxist), Nepal Prajatantrik Yuba Party, Nepal Janasangh Party, Nepal Dalit Shramik Morcha and CPN ( Unified ) are those political parties getting their registrations cancelled for failing to submit the annual financial details, according to EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma.

Likewise, the EC has slapped 82 political parties with Rs 100 fine for failing to submit annual financial report on time. They were asked for furnishing such details within the deadline of 35 days. RSS
