NRASC’s meet focuses on increment in rebuilding grants

Nepal Reconstruction AuthorityKathmandu / Sept 25: A meeting of the Steering Committee of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) that kicked off here today discussed about issue of increasing the amount of house rebuilding grants announced by the government for earthquake survivors and providing them with Rs 300,000 as an interest-free loan.

The NRA is headed by the Prime Minister. Earlier, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal pledged to increase the quake house rebuilding grants from Rs 200,000 to Rs 300,000.

The meeting discussed programmes, policies and budget for the fiscal year 2073\74, said NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali.

“Issues like 45-day action plan for the reconstruction of damaged private houses, NRA work progress, NRA’s organisational structure and the review of functional system and the management of manpower will be the agenda of discussions of the meeting,” he said.

The meeting will also discuss the formation of a secretariat of the district coordination committee at the district-level.

A proposal has also been tabled at the meeting to release the first installment of Rs 50,000 to quake-affected family each, Rs 150,000 in second and Rs 100,000 in third and final installment, respectively. RSS
