Local investment to be guaranteed in Budhigandaki-Minister Sharma

hydropowerKathmandu / Oct 4: The government is making an arrangement for project-affected locals to invest shares in the Budhigandaki Hydropower — a national pride project.

At a time when there was confusion whether or not to involve affected locals in the multi-purpose and big investment project with no immediate benefits, the government has ensured their right to investment in the project.

At a press conference organized at the Energy Ministry on Tuesday, Minister Janardan Sharma said that the government would construct the mega project on its own and allow locals to invest in it.

“We are in favour of ensuring the participation of local people and their share investment to the mega project like Budhigandaki”, Minister Sharma said, adding that, “It is completely baseless rumour that the Budhigandaki affected would not be allowed to make investments in the hydel project”. RSS
