Tourism potential Takamkot crying for conservation

Myagdi GhodapaniMyagdi / October 14: Takamkot having potentiality and prospect for tourism and religious importance is waiting for conservation.

With the history of the 200 hundreds years of the reign of Thapa dynasty during principalities, the place is losing its beauty for want of conservation and publicity.

Situated in around 2,500 meters above from the sea level, the scenic beauty of different ranges like Gurja, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna and Machhapuchchhre can be viewed. Likewise, one can get a glimpse of other breathtaking scenes from the location.

The place also carries religiously importance with the statues of various gods and goddesses at Takamkot. A belief has it that one offering worships or sacrificing animals here can get his or her wish come true.

A building housing ancient arms and armours, Jagannath Temple and Pauwa are in a dilapidated condition while the arms and armours are getting rusted. Likewise, other ancient musical instruments are also in a sorry condition.

When asked, officials at the Annapurna Jagannath Guthi Management Committee, Takamkot formed to conserve Takamkot said preparations were underway to reconstruct the temple and construct a pathway to the area. RSS
