Godawari Flower Exhibition kicks off
Lalitpur / Oct 26: The tenth Godawari (Chrysanthemum) Flower Exhibition has kicked off at Jawalakhel in the capital from today.
State-Minister for Agriculture Development Radhika Tamang inaugurated the event organized by the Floriculture Association Nepal for the development of floriculture in the country.
The organizers are expecting the footfall of some 30,000 visitors and hopeful of transaction worth Rs 3.5 to Rs 4 million during the four-day event.
State-Minister Tamang stated that the floriculture had made stride in the country and had provided employment opportunities to many women.
As the commercial farming of flowers has spread to some 39 districts across the country, more than 41,000 people have got employment with the floriculture, according to the Association.
Similarly, Secretary at the Minister of Agriculture Udayachandra Thakur spoke of the need to reduce the import of the flowers from abroad.
Likewise, Dinesh Shrestha, Vice-President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry was of the opinion that the import could be reduced only by encouraging the consumption of locally produced goods. RSS
