Health ministry team in Jhapa to control dengue

dengue-mosquito-biteJhapa / Oct 27: In the face of dengue outbreak in Jhapa district, separate specialist teams from the Health Ministry and the District Public Health Office (DPHO) are in the affected-zone since a week, to carry out efforts to control the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.

The government responded to the increasing number of people suffering from the disease. So far over 100 people are reported to be infected with it. “Our team now is in Damak. The government teams are on a war footing to identify infected people and seek medical treatment and destroy mosquitoes, the main source of dengue,” said Jhapa DPHO Chief Devraj Karki said.

Another medical team from the Health Ministry includes specialist Dr Yadu Chandra Ghimire and lab technician Dabal Bahadur BC.

Likewise, the DPHO has launched a search-and-destroy campaign to destroy mosquito larva. Aedes aegypti mosquito bites transmit the viruses causing dengue. RSS
