Dhartiputra selected for Chicago International Children’s Film Festival

dhartiputra-oct-26Kathmandu / Oct 27: Fifteen-year-old Aditya Khadka’s documentary ‘Dhartiputra’ has been selected for the Chicago International Film Festival (CICFF), 2016.

The short-film had earlier won the ‘Best Documentary’ award at the largest film festival of Africa, Real Time Film Festival, last month which was held in Nigeria. “The documentary has been selected in various festivals and has also bagged two awards along with the ‘Best Documentary’ award in Scout Film Festival 2016 and received 3rd prize at the Seismic Shift Category in Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival 2015,” read a statement issued by the team.

Dhartiputra is a short documentary which portrays the miraculous survival tale of four months old, Sonis Awal. He was rescued after being buried under his house for 22 hours. The documentary mainly focuses on the emotions and feelings of Rasmeela (Sonis’ mother) during those 22 hours and after her son being rescued.

Aditya Khadka is a filmmaker currently studying in Grade 10 at Vidhya Sanskar School. He has made a couple of documentaries which includes Dhartiputra. He has left for Chicago on 25th October to attend the CICFF which is also one of the most reputed film festivals in the world and is the biggest film festival for children and youth in North America.
