Khanigaun villagers build their own road

Myagdi / Nov 10: The Khanigaun villagers at Kuhu VDC-1 in Myagdi district have built a 3-kilo metres road themselves that would provide them easy connectivity to the nearest paved road.

After waiting for the local authority to build a road for them for so long, they have taken matters into their own hands and launched the fundraising campaign to construct the road.

The construction of the road built at the cost of Rs 800,000 has particularly made the local farmers happy as they could now easily access markets in town.

The vehicles started plying on the newly constructed road with the beginning of November.

“The locals, especially those involved in agriculture, are very happy with the construction of road as it will help them do business in the towns with ease. We are planning to develop agriculture pocket area,” said Yam Budhathoki, a local.

He said that the village produces banana and orange and other commercial fruit crops.

The locals have also collected additional Rs 119,000 from the Deusi-Bhailo cultural programme during the Tihar festival. They have declared to spend the money on repair and upgradation of the road. RSS
