Minister Joshi stresses on development and expansion of renewal energy technology
Kathmandu / Nov 26: Minister for Population and Environment, Jayadev Joshi, has stressed the need of development and expansion of renewal energy technology including solar energy to achieve the government’s goal of ending load shedding.
Inaugurating the 16th annual general meeting of the Solar Electric Manufacturers Association Nepal here today, Minister Joshi said that energy development was possible only from the collective efforts of government, private sector and donor agencies.
He further said that ending load shedding after importing power from India would not be long-lasting.
Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry of Population and Environment, Dr Bishwonath Oli, said that the government was to bring renewal energy policy for the promotion of renewal energy technology.
Likewise, Executive Director of the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre, Ram Prasad Dhital, said that emphasis has been given in solar energy system of huge capacity for sustainable resolution of existing energy crisis.
Energy expert Prof Dr Jagannath Shrestha presented a data that 80 MW electricity and 30 MW solar electricity could be installed from the Rs 16 billion saved from fuel used in generators while Association Chairman Uttam Sitaula said that solar entrepreneurs were ready to collaborate with Nepal Electricity Authority to make the government’s campaign of ending load-shedding a success.
