Constitution amendment bill tabled at House amidst opposition’s din;  Two election related bills presented

 

nepal-constitutionKathmandu / Jan 8: The government has finally tabled the Nepal’s Constitution Amendment Bill-2073 at the second meeting of the Legislature Parliament amidst protest from the opposition parties on Sunday.

Minister for Law, Justice and Federal Affairs Ajay Shankar Nayak presented the bill amidst the din by the opposition parties including the CPN (UML).

Prior to this, the meeting refused by majority votes the separate note of dissent presented by lawmakers Prem Suwal and Chitra Bahadur KC against the constitution amendment bill.

The Legislature-Parliament is to meet again at 1:00 pm Monday.

Two election related bills presented

Similarly, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Shankar Nayak, on the behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Bimalendra Nidhi, presented two bills relating to election in the second meeting of the Legislature-Parliament, on Sunday.

The two bills are – ‘Local Bodies Election Bill-2073’, and ‘Election (Crime and Punishment) Bill-2073’.

On the occasion, Minister Nayak said that the bills were necessary to hold local poll in a free and fair atmosphere.

Reshuffle on parliament committees

The Sunday meeting of the Legislature-Parliament agreed to transfer some members of the parliamentary committees to different committees.

Before this, Speaker Onsari Gharti shared information about it and urged the Parliament to support the transfer. RSS
