New directive for providing grants to community hospitals
Kathmandu / Feb 10: The Ministry of Health has tightened the policy governing the issuance of grants to the community health institutions. This policy measure has been made with the aim of making the community health institutions to be in rural-centric.
The Ministry amended the Community Hospital Grant Directive prioritizing the rural based community health institutions for the grants.
As per the amended directive, such health institutions operated in Metropolis and Sub metropolis will not get governmental grants.
Similarly, the hospitals having 15-bed will only be liable for such grants.
Health Minister’s advisor Pratap Poudel shared that community hospitals operated far from the government hospitals will be prioritized while selecting for grants.
As per the statistics of the Ministry, about 500 community hospitals are operated across the country.
The government is annually providing 500 million rupees as grant to the community hospitals.
As per the new provision, community hospitals should have submitted their work plan along with available services and should not have received any kinds of grants from the government to be eligible for the government grants.
Similarly, such grants would be provided on the installment basis after evaluating its efficiency. RSS
