PM commits to announce local poll dates within a week
Phidim / Feb 15: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the government will announce the local poll dates within a week.
PM Dahal said so while inaugurating the Hewakhola ‘A’ 14.1-megawatt hydropower project in Panchthar district today.
Dahal added that the consultations with the main opposition party CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and coalition partner Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba created a favourable environment for holding the local level elections.
Meanwhile, Dahal also said the government would carry out major hydropower projects in the country in Nepalis’ investment along with continuing efforts in attracting foreign direct investments here.
The leader also said the government was committed to producing 732 megawatt electricity from the Tamor River in the region.
Speaking at the function, Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma said the government would book all the perpetrators involved in the electricity pilferage.
Deputy leader of the CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Subas Chandra Nembang, meanwhile, urged the government to announce the local election dates pronto and move towards the Constitution implementation.
