Gulmi District Society UK donates Rs 1.2 million for Blood Centre

nrnGulmi / Feb 20: The Gulmi District Society UK has provided financial assistance worth Rs 1.2 million to two local organizations for the establishment of a Blood Transfusion Service Centre at Gulmi and operation of a local organization.

The Society handed over Rs 900 thousand to Nepal Red Cross Society District Administration and Rs 300 thousand to Asha Disable Centre amid a programme organized at Tamghas today.

State-Minister for Commerce Subarna Jwarchan lauded the humanitarian assistance of the people in UK hailing from Gulmi for societal development of their district.

State-Minister Jwarchan, calling for cooperation from one and all for such social initiative, said that the State alone could not support development agenda but it needs people’s participation.

Many patients especially those sustaining severe physical injuries, in lack of the blood storage centre in the district, had died immaturely in the past, added Nepal Red Cross Society, Gulmi, President Anup Kumar Shrestha, adding many patients were referred to health facilities elsewhere.

Concept of establishment of blood transfusion service centre in the district first came into being after the Gulmi Social Service Bahrain contributed Rs 100 thousand. Parliamentarian Chandra Bhandari had also provided Rs 1 million for the cause. RSS
