Education Minister stresses on expanding technical education to the villages
Bhaktapur / Feb 23: Education Minister Dhaniram Poudel has underlined the need of producing human resources as per the requirements of the country by linking education to production and employment.
The Education Minister was addressing the 29th anniversary function of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) at Sanothimi, Bhaktapur today.
He said technical education should be expanded to the villages as the constitution itself mentions that vocational education is the basis for building a prosperous nation.
Moreover, he pointed out the need of making the technical education qualitative and productive, adding that the government had to reform the education policy as production of capable human resources and quality education was not possible through the existing education policy.
CTEVT vice-chairperson Dr Kul Bahadur Basnet, member-secretary Ramesh Bakhati, former vice-chancellor of Kathmandu University Prof Dr Suresh Raj Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Surya Prasad Gautam among others stressed on the need of determining an appropriate direction for the development of technical education.
Various persons and instructors associated with the different technical and vocational schools under the CTEVT were conferred medals and honoured in recognition of their special contribution to promoting vocational education.
Also honoured on the occasion were the retired instructors at the CTEVT and students achieving distinction marks in the final examinations last year. RSS
