EC urges all to follow election code of conduct; Kathmandu DAO directs residents to submit weapons
Kathmandu / March 16: The Election Commission has, issuing a press statement today, urged all to abide by the election code of conduct in view of the local level election. The local poll is scheduled for May 14.
The commission has issued 19-point directions, urging to follow the election code in effect since March 1.
It has directed the Ministries, offices, political parties, concerned bodies and institutions to follow the election code.
The press statement further stressing on fair and fear-free environment for the election has warned of action as per prevailing laws if election codes were violated.

Meanwhile, in view of the local level elections scheduled for May 14, the Kathmandu District Administration Office has directed firearms and weapons holders in the district to submit their weapons both licensed and non-licensed to the DAO or the nearby police offices.
The directives aim to hold the polls in a free and fair manner and the weapons and firearms will be kept throughout the polls, said a statement issued on Thursday by Kathmandu Chief District Officer Himnath Dawadi.
The statement also bans production and sale of alcoholic beverage during the polls.
Likewise, except for security personnel, wielding, demonstration and use of any types of weapons and firearms are also banned during the elections. “Or the directive violators will face action,” said the statement. RSS
