Preparation of election at final stage in the central level: EC
Kathmandu / March 19: The Election Commission has informed that the preparation for local level election reached the final stage in the central level.
During a press meet organized to inform about the upcoming elections, Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhi Prasad Yadav said the EC was committed to holding election on time. EC is reaching the local level through district now, he added.
He urged all sides to extend support to hold the election successfully.
Preparation is in full swing to elect 36,639 posts under the local level elections, the EC said, adding that a total of 13,360 women and 6680 Dalit women would be elected under the local poll. The population of the elected ones combining Dalit and minority would be 1,751.
The EC will manage 67 types of election materials. The Janak Education Materials Centre has been already provided white paper required for printing ballot papers while the Nepal Army has managed security. The process of printing of ballot papers was initiated from Sunday itself, EC Yadav said.
The EC expects that the number of eligible voters for the election will be around 1.4 million. Printing of voters’ identity card (new model) is going on within the EC.
Voter’s identity card is mandatory for voting as per the Voters’ Name List Act- 2073 BS.
Preparations are on the for the election keeping the issues of voter’s education, legal infrastructure, security arrangements, management of ballot box and observation equally in the centre. The number of polling centres is expected to be at 21,000. RSS
