NRA approves six new designs of cost effective houses
Kathmandu / March 21: National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) is all set to make public six new designs of cost effective and earthquake-resistant houses.
NRA has developed a design of cost effective model houses keeping in mind the rural belt of earthquake-hit districts. A two-room building can be constructed at the cost of Rs 292,000 as per the new design.
NRA Chief Executive Officer Prof Dr Govinda Raj Pokharel informed that the Society of Nepalese Architecture had supported to design five sample houses while Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) designed one.
The Executive Committee meeting NRA held under the premiership of CEO Pokharel on Tuesday approved sx sample designs of quake-resist houses.
The designs would come into effect once these were certified by the Housing Standard Determination Committee coordinated by NRA Executive Committee member Dr Hariram Parajuli.
According to the new design, one-storied quake-resilient house made up of stones, clay and cement could be constructed. The victims can construct houses as per their choice on design. RSS
