EC to train 21 thousand voter educators in eight locations; Polls’ preparations in high speed: CEC Yadav

Election CommissionKathmandu / March 25: The Election Commission is set to prepare total 21,000 voter educators in different eight places of the country as part of its voter education drive in view of civic polls.

Keeping in mind that it became a challenge to educate voters on the new structures of the local government and its associated framework with number of posts under inclusive provision, the EC has come up with the drive.

The women-focused voters’ awareness progamme has been designed as there would be 40 per cent women participation as the candidates for the local election scheduled for May 14.

The EC has launched regional training of trainers on Saturday to contribute to hold the local level election in a free and fair manner through voters’ education.

The trainers’ training took place in Biratnagar, Sindhuli, Hetauda, lalitpur, Pokhara, Butwal, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi.

Election Commissioner Ila Sharma said that the trained educators would educate voters reaching to their doorsteps for a month.

Polls’ preparations in high speed: CEC Yadav

Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhi Prasad Yadav has shared that the printing of ballot papers for the May 14 local elections was going on in high speed.

In a press meet organized by the Election Commission in Biratnagar today, Yadav urged all political parties to make it successful as the local poll will not be postponed at any cost. He clarified that the EC removed the portion of Hindu State and Monarchy from the party statute of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party as it contradicted the constitution.

In response to journalists’ query on holding federal and provincial elections at the same time, Yadav said that it would not be easy to hold the both elections at the same time. CEC Yadav said he was committed to implementing the election code of conduct. RSS
