NRA starts process to distribute housing grants in 17 less quake-hit districts

Nepal Reconstruction AuthorityKathmandu / March 28: The National Reconstruction Authority has begun process to distribute housing grants in additional 17 less earthquake-affected districts.

A meeting of the executive committee held under the coordination of Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Dr Govinda Pokharel, on Tuesday decided to signed agreement immediately with the quake-affected people of 17 districts for the grant.

Joint-Spokesperson of the NRA, Dr Bhishma Kumar Bhusal said that orientation trainings were recently concluded in the 17 districts for the grant agreement and grant assistance would be distributed after signing the agreement immediately.

The households affected by the earthquake would get Rs 50,000 as the first tranche of grant for the construction of houses soon after signing the agreement.

The meeting also decided to issue necessary directives to the concerned district administration offices through Home ministry to control black marketeering in quake-hit districts. Similarly, the meeting also gave responsibility to sub-committee coordinated by executive committee member Dr Chandra Bahadur Shrestha to expedite the process of passing the house design for the construction of houses of quake-affected people in the recently announced municipalities.
