Ruling parties, agitating front positive to advance constitution amendment in some days

nepal-constitutionKathmandu / March 31: The ruling political parties and the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have become flexible to advance the constitution amendment by forging agreement on the disputed issues.

The meeting held at Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, this evening, however, could not reach the conclusion as top leaders of the ruling parties failed to attend the meeting.

The meeting entrusted the responsibility on PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal to hold the talks in the top leaderships and advance the amendment proposal soon. Earlier, the meeting was said to have held to prepare a revised proposal of constitution amendment to address the UDMF’s demands.

Spokesperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Pampha Bhusal informed that PM Dahal himself would take initiative for the preparation of constitution amendment and forging of consensus based on the five points.

Formation of a commission to settle disputes on provincial border, language, citizenship, representation in the National Assembly, and Electoral College are the key five points pressing before the government.

Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel said that the ruling parties put forth their stances for participating in the polls by agreeing in the five-point deal but the Morcha leaders have not made their opinion clear yet.

Poudel added that many things have been settled to hold the local level elections on May 14.

He said that the Prime Minister has taken responsibility to sort out the issues by April 2 after holding talks at the leaders’ level.
