Over 14 million people eligible to vote in May 14 local poll

Election CommissionKathmandu / April 02: The Election Commission Nepal (ECN) has finalised the name list of voters regarding the upcoming local-level election scheduled to be held on March 14 this year.

According to spokesperson for the ECN, Surya Prasad Sharma, 14,054,482 individuals are eligible to use their franchise in the upcoming local election going to be held first time after 19 years.

The EC accepted the names of those Nepali citizens above 18 years of age who got their names registered at the District Election Offices by February 20, 2017.

Of them, the number of female voters is 6,984,625, the number of male is 7,069,714 while the number of transgender is 143.

Morang tops other districts in terms of voters’ population which is counted at 63,0870 while Manag has the least number of voters- 5095.

The EC is to update the certified name lists of voters in its official website within the next few days. RSS
