NRA deputing engineering technicians again to quake-affected districts
Kathmandu / July 18: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), the governmental body formed to deal with the post-earthquake reconstruction works, has decided to depute engineering technicians to the 31 most affected districts again to determine the standard of private houses.
In a meeting of the Development Committee under the Legislature-Parliament today, NRA Chief Executive Officer Govinda Raj Pokhrel said the NRA was sending 301 technicians to the affected districts again to address the grievances from there and such technicians would complete their task by the last week of August.
According to NRA, 113 thousand houses have been constructed so far in those districts under the Private Shelter programme, and testing of standard of additional 45 thousand houses is going on. Implementation of work procedure relating to personal and collective loan on a subsidized rate is forthcoming.
In the meeting, Committee President Rabindra Adhikari urged the NRA to work in such a way that people could feel the progress on the reconstruction works in real life not in papers, giving priority to the rebuilding of schools, health facilities, roadways, drinking water projects, and government buildings as well.
