PM designates Secretary, Joint Secretary at KUKL Board
Kathmandu / July 21: In a bid to boost the effectiveness and efficiency of Kathmandu Khanepani Upatyaka Limited (KUKL), the sole body responsible to supply drinking water and regulate it, the government has decided to designate Secretary and Joint Secretary in the KUKL Board from the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba who is also looking after the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation took the decision today. Earlier, the KUKL board had the representation of Joint Secretary and Undersecretary.
With this decision, Secretary Bhim Prasad Upadhyay and Director General at Department of Drinking Water and Sewerage Tejraj Bhatta would be in the KUKL board. Ministry’s Secretary is the Chairman of the board of directors.
The government has Rs 20 million paid up capital in the KUKL. Similarly, Kathmandu Metropolitan City has 30 percent share, while Lalitpur Metropolitan City and the private sectors have 15 percent each.
Now, efforts are on to provide 10 percent share to Bhaktapur Municipality, said Secretary Upadhyay.RSS
