PM Deuba stresses establishment of international science research laboratory

Sher Bahadur DeuwaKathmandu / Sept. 10: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has stressed the need for establishing an international level science research laboratory in the country.

In the circumstance that Nepali human resource produced within the country is doing excellent in international laboratories, the government, he said, would do its best in establishing an international level science research laboratory inside the country.

“Whatever the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) is doing with resources and human personnel at its disposal is satisfactory. But we have a long way to go in this regard,” he said while addressing the 40th Academic Assembly of the NAST in the Capital today. PM Deuba is also Chancellor of the NAST.

“There is a need for improvements in science and technology for the holistic development of the country. So the NAST will have to play an important role to this effect,” he said.

PM Deuba also emphasised the need for conducting research and using country’s medicinal herbs to produce medicines within the country.

Meanwhile, the Council passed a budget worth more than Rs 250 million for the fiscal year 2017\018. RSS
