Man rescues fish from plastic wrapper constricting its middle

Adam Turnbull said in a Facebook post he was fishing the Saskatchewan River in Alberta on Saturday when he reeled in a fish with an unusually shaped midsection.

Turnbull said he initially thought something had taken a bite out of the fish until he took a closer look and discovered the fish was growing around a plastic ring.

The ring turned out to be the wrapper from a Powerade bottle.

“Pick up your garbage. This is a Powerade wrapper which takes up no room in your pocket until you get to a garbage can,” Turnbull wrote.

The fisherman said he cut the fish free of the wrapper before releasing it back into the water. Upi.com
